Just got back not too long ago from the taping of G-Phoria. For those of you who don't know what that is. Its pretty much an award show for the video game industry. SpikeTV still has or had one, I forget what it's called but I'm sure Joz will agree that it sucked horribly bad. This one isn't so bad, lots of famous people, lots of video games to try out, lots of hot girls and lots of free booze for those that like to drink.
My friend and I got to the studio in LA around 6:00pm (I never knew there were studios hidden nearby residential areas in LA! My old BBW job used to be a few blocks down from there too!). We were sat down in this one room that looked a lot like a threater, where I assume movies/shows are previewed and what not. Eventually we were led outdoors through the other side of security and were let free to roam around. To sum things up, it was pretty much a big party with the famous, the rich, the people in the industry and us (the random people lol).
Microsoft had a few Xbox 360's around the area put into display (unfortunately that was about it for that, just a display of the console itself with a bunch of accessories). A lot of companies had games which are still in development, the one game that stood out the most was the new Zelda game from Nintendo. I got to try it out! It's a pretty sweet looking game, the controls are very similar to Wind Waker, but the new look is amazing. That's probably the only game that really stood out for me. Oh wait Sly Cooper 3 was also playable there. Another great series that not many people are aware of. Get Sly Cooper if you like fun adventure games ;)
Around 8:30 or so the first band came out to perform. The Bravery, which I havent really heard much of their stuff to be honest, so I didn't really care much for them, but I stuck around anyway. They weren't all that bad, but I don't think I will be listening to their material anytime soon.
The awards portion finally began being taped around 9:30 or so. It's amazing what video editing can create, because the way this thing was dragging on, it was horrible. After each winner was announced, there was like a minute wait for the next set up (at least it felt like 5 minutes). Wilmer Valderrama was the host for the night, but we didn't really see much of him through out the whole taping. As far as the actual winners go, I'm not gonna get into that only because it's kind of pointless.
Finally around 11:00pm the Black Eyed Peas performed. They were pretty much the highlight of the whole night, and made it worth being there. They played for almost an hour or so and kicked ass. They are really good live and sure know how to get the crowd into the mood. I always told my friends that I thought Fergie had kind of a fugly face, but after being able to see her by being right next to the stage... I take it all back! She was really good looking over all in person and has a really good voice.
My friend took pictures with his palm (thats all we had on us since we were told no cameras were allowed, yet everyone and their mother had one...), once I get them I will try to post them. I know I left things out or did not get into too much detail, but it's 2:30am right now and a little too tired for that.
The best thing about this... it was all free!
Edit: Something I just remembered to add. The whole time the show was being taped, there were like 4 guys behind me that were gay. All I could hear from them were comments about the celebs as to "who is really gay and who seems gay" and during the segment breaks, they would discuss their jobs in the movie biz and how they meet all of these girls that want to do them and how if they were straight they could easily have their way with them. Also a lot of the people that attended the taping were the shallow "im too good for you" kind. Even one of the employees told us that most of the people there dont give a crap about the show itself, they were just there to mingle and get freebies (alcohol in this case). What a shame, but I guess with money, you can pretty much do what you want.

Yep
That spike tv video game awards show sucked so much ass that it's unbelievable, didn't they have their second one already though and it was somewhat better? Not sure.Your old BBW job? Doesn't that stand for that type of pr0n - Big Beautiful Women?? What exactly did you "do" there????
Sounds like the awards were a cool time, except for those annoying people behind you, lame. Too bad there are so many lamers there, they should limit it to just game developers. That would filter out the fake.
